"This year, I lost, I won, laughed, cried and loved. But above all, I learned."
I lost my business partner that helped create and build The Beauty Bar, Amanda Fagan. Some of you already know this, mid year Amanda expressed her wishes to no longer be part owner. As her and I have always been connected in this journey I could feel her stress and strain the demand was having on her. Sometimes we think/want to take on a new venture but it becomes more of a burden then pleasure. I fully respect and admire her courage to do what’s best for her.We both cried, however Amanda will always be apart of what The Beauty Bar is and I hope she never leaves (currently away due to an injury)and let me tell you, the studio isn’t the same without her.
I love you Amanda and am forever grateful for what we started together.
I won a new business partner, fiance’, and husband. Not both lol, we got engaged and married 6 months later. Being the owner of HairMD by Michelle and doing hair full time, the thought of running 2 businesses myself was overwhelming. Dwayne’s eagerness and willingness to help and come on board was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. This man’s passion for numbers, keeping track of everything, creating spreadsheets, paying bills and so much more is such a blessing. The behind the scenes of running a business is not for the faint of heart, it is a daily project. Dwayne does all the things I hate and procrastinate with about running a business, we make a perfect team! Sometimes things workout the way they are supposed to.
Of course I've laughed, laughter is the best medicine.
There were so many great laughs this year, as I look back on photos I’m always laughing, not just smiling, which makes my heart happy. Life is way too short not to!
Laughed so hard I cried, happy tears. I also had sad tears, hurt tears and tears of overwhelming love. Emotions are a beautiful thing to embrace. I will always allow myself to feel even if sometimes it hurts. I will always lead with empathy and compassion. Which follows with Love, the world and the people in it need so much of this.
I have learned so much this year. The importance of asking for help is probably the biggest one. The ultimate way to learn and grow! There are so many knowledgeable and talented humans out there, let them do what they do best so I/we can do what we do best. These are some of my humans that are a huge part of The Beauty Bar’s success.
- My partner, Dwayne Wack, business, life and all things involved. He’s all the C’s, CFO, CEO, COO….and so much more. I’m so beyond grateful to have him by my side.
- Digital Marketer, Angela Carrigan, online guru, a huge part of the beauty bars growth and awareness in the digital world. She is a gem and so talented, Angela has helped establish and create The Beauty Bar brand. Blessed to have her on board.
- Bookkeeping/ accounting. Melissa Lenos, King Business Solutions, Guys this is so important and must be a trusting relationship. This lady happens to be one of my really good long-time friends and I am so lucky to have her in my life. True beauty!
- Handyman, Contractor, Don Verrier. always there when I need him and can fix just about anything.
- The Beauty Bar Beauties. Past, present and future. You all have & will leave your mark in the studio, knowingly or unknowingly making it what it is meant to be.
- The Community. “Alone, we can do so little, together, we can do so much.” Helen Keller. Which is everyone else who has contributed big or small to the success and growth of The Beauty Bar, clients, friends, family, collaborators, contractors, neighbors… We will continue to support and be a part of the community as much as possible.
The Beauty Bar has taught me that if you stay true to your purpose, goals and vision the path will show itself. It’s not easy, but nothing in this life worth doing is! There is still lots of work to do, lots of women who need The Beauty Bar to help them in their journey, I’m ready and here for it all!
